South-central Nebraska | I've got a set of matte finish Deere branded wrenches in our shop. No problems at all. FWIW, I have Craftsman and a few sets of Genius wrenches sold by Five Star Shop Service which haven't given me trouble either. Some of my Northern wrenches have rounded out at the open end.
Worst God awful wrenches I have/had are labeled Wisdom Tool. Real junk.
