Gov't mandates the lead be out of My gas. I want it back in. What is the difference with Ethanol? Ethanol makes the emissions cleaner. Lead is bad for the people who breathe. Both mandates.
I hate Gov't mandates too, but all gas stations are ruled by the oil companies, and would sell ZERO ethanol if there was no mandate.
Even if Poet or Groth built gas stations to sell the ethanol, they would get raped on the price for gas that is blended with it, or get shut off.
OK, here's a farming analogy to this... The gov't banned DDT as a pesticide... They didn't require you to use bifenthrin (Capture's active ingredient). That's what the EPA is doing on the RFS at this point... So when the EPA comes to our farms and says "You must use XYZ chemical/practice/whatever"... Well, guess what? It's a slippery slope that we're actively trying to push the sled down by our very vociferous support of the ethanol mandate. |
