Subject: RE: CaseIH vs Shoup, planter rebuild

Strasburg North Dakota
I tried aftermarket disks for my 1200 planter from Abeline Machine and all the bearings wiggled inside the bearing retainer. They replaced them all and 1/2 way through the season half of them were loose again and when we ran them in rocky conditions the edge bent over and stopped rotation. I went back to OEM Earth Metal CaseIH blades. Needless to say my scrap iron trailer has a lot of good bearings in it. Can't say about Shoup blades, but this experience soured me on aftermarket blades.
