Subject: RE: CaseIH vs Shoup, planter rebuild

East Central, Nebraska
I have always bought from shoup. lately combine wise I have been buying from abeline machine because they are slightly cheaper.

years ago when we had a white planter I had 2 opener discs that I kept on hand for spares, they were oem discs, I used them in the rebuild and bought 15 rows of shoups. agco salesman stopped up and said take the shoup one and hold it in one hand and put ours in the other. their was a obvious difference in weight. I never weighed them but it was clear I was getting a lot more iron from the oem. I still buy shoup for everything I can. that weight difference was sort of alarming but and the shoup one may wear a little faster but the price difference was also alarming and when i thought about it when i put on new shoups i am also putting on new bearings so what if i get a few more acres out of the oems it just didn't seem worth it buying from the dealer.
