Macon, IL | Auction lots here $1,000-$2,500 depending on tires, cleanliness and if it needed any work at all.
One tire or sizable breakdown and a couple belts and you just spent $1,500 on a $1,000 combine.
That being said when I started farming in 2003 I bought an average 4400 gasser for $400, used it for a couple years and sold it for $800. Paid for itself a couple times and I learned some cheap lessons. Sometimes I kind of miss the simpleness of it.
