Subject: RE: How long for lime to work?

SE Nebraska, Near Misery and Cans Ass!
The field was grid sampled 4 years ago. PH from 4.5 to 7.5 along the gravel roads. 30% of the field needed no lime. Some of it required 8 ton of 50% cec product. I split the application over two years and applied 120% of recommendation. I had it re sampled this fall. Used the same points as last time. Just disappointed I have not seen more improvement. Still needs an average of 2 ton so I guess that's not so bad but some of the low areas still need 4 ton and some of the area that needed less than a ton now need a ton or more. BTW the fertilizer requirements have really evened out and I know I have never applied enough to bring the low areas up, the land manager would have had a stroke.
