Not to be argumentative but the Aaron Rodgers analogy works perfect. Alex Smith was picked first overall and way ahead of Aaron in that draft. Now that their careers have developed Smith is struggling to stay on teams and Rodgers is a first ballot HOF.
This is similar to seed companies because I believe the majors get first choice with hybrids, but there are many great ones that slip through the cracks and are awesome when they Get to market.
