Southern IA
wasn't long very long ago at least one big university was publishing study results that liming was not economical as they had side by sides for many years on lime and no lime and there was not a positive return to the lime. Seems to come and go relative to the profitability of ag commodities. There are probably a few unique areas that really do need it to get any productivity out of their soils, but I'd suspect the number of acres that have never seen a lime truck far outweigh the number of acres that are limed.
