LaSalle, Ontario, 10 miles south of Detroit Mi.
I have a cousin that has been planting beans for 15 years. about 3 years ago I finally talked him into planting LL beans as he had been RR for ever before that. I harvest his crop so I see the end result. like said rotate disease package, rotate chemical, work the straw in if you can this will help with reducing disease carry over in the straw. pull soil test. follow recommendation of them. I do about 12 - 15 bushel better than him I rotate corn beans then wheat. can you plant wheat?
try and put wheat in next fall and underseed to clover this will add OM to the soil, beans do not add any OM.
it can be done, the price is right so a hit on yield is not as bad. the yield loss might be what you would pay in rent, if you had to pay rent. good luck.
