I agree with Kyle. When you are paying for a treatment or inoculant, you are wanting the performance. If you don't have the precision equipment, then one seed might get 3x the rate while another might get none. With the price of seed, we need every seed to pitch in--can't afford the freeloaders. A full load, precise application might cost you a little more than a bushel than doing it yourself and there are some better performing products that are not labeled for on-farm application that would be unavailable to you.

That said, you're better off doing it yourself than going untreated, IMHO.
