West Central MN (between MMF and Larson's)
GOMSK - 11/23/2015 07:53

Been pondering this for a while. As a person who produces a commodity, is it more profitable to be bearish price consistently, or bullish price?

The obvious answer is you want to be a little of both, but if you are a little of both, you run the risk of being completely wrong.

If you are bearish and price ends up being bullish, you always have another year to sell higher.

Just curious what some think.

I think the best is to know what works for you. I tend to be overly aggressive so I make smaller incremental sales to force some patience. I have also affiliated our farm with an advisor(s) that is much more patient and measured. Has worked well. Bullish or Bearish we try to put a strategy in place and execute. Right now the strategy is called patiently watching for opportunity. (and reward the basis. )
