SE MN Still in Pothole Country
We live in the real world where even when we mold board plow not all trash is buried to uniform depth. Ideally I try for some poking through and not to tip everything over 180 degrees. Speed, moisture, soil type, width of cut all matter. When I was starting to plow as kid John Deere 4 bottom plow pulled by 730at 3.4 mph. Then 4020 and 5 bottoms at 4 mph. Then 4640 pulling IH 5 bottom 20 inch at 5 mph. Grew Pioneer corn that after going through 843Deere head never plugged. Now JD vari-width plow where most of time stalk chopper needed after todays populations and varities.. Really liked comments about effect of early harvest and stalk decomposing.
