Centre county Pennsylvania, USA | Our current local corn basis is +45 cents US. That's equivalent to +65 cents Canadian. Local ethanol plant is offering cash contracts, at +40 cents US basis, for delivery from Jan 2016 though Aug 2016. No question, the local ethanol plant folks are trying to convince farmers to sell corn now. Right or wrong, we have not sold any of our 2015 corn, yet. In layman's terms, that strategy could go right If mother nature is kind in 2016, or it could go wrong if she's not kind in 2016. The 'market' has very little, or no, say in that outcome, here. |
