The smaller dairy producer got labeled "inefficient" because of being unable to compete with illegal alien labor and the attractiveness of a corn/bean payout every year, the abilty to work only 3 months a year and sit on the arse the rest of the time. The small and midsize dairy is and always will be the most "efficient" use of soil and land in Wisconsin.


The dairy world is much bigger than Wisconsin, and if small dairies in North America were still as efficient as you think, there would be more of them left.
