South Central Wi.
While I agree somewhat on the government part we still only have ourselves to blame. We are each an independent company competing against one another in a very cut throat industry. We don't have to over produce or drive land prices so high but we are competing against every other farmer out there so we do. Most of us are in bed with the government because that competition has caused us to price ourselves out of the market without it. And that is what they want. No other industry is as important to our countries stability as ours so they need a firm handle on it. If corn had stayed at $7 how many would have participated in the new program? Most other industries can see bad times coming and usually take measures that we don't. They cut production, lay people off, shut down under producing plants, and maybe even have a change in top management. We as an industry have never been able to do that, and probably never will. Individual farms change hands but they never sit idle because they are under producers.
