Subject: RE: And there is the Catch 22 of farming

Rivers, MB
Tara Farms - 11/19/2015 07:55

every time we have a period of profits in farming land cost skyrocket leaving grain prices that would otherwise seem profitable turning into a big equity drain.

$3.50 corn and $8.50 Beans were profitable be fore we ran up our COP because of belief of $5.00 corn and $13.00 beans were our god given right.

Now Fert. prices are down, Fuel prices are down, chemical prices are down, Machinery prices are down, and now seed prices are falling the only thing people here are afraid to say no mass to is land cost for some reason they seem to think the market needs to pay them for this cost well boys it doesn't. PERIOD

Agree with most of what you are saying. Are new machinery prices down as well? I know used machinery is. The Cdn/Us $ exchange has caused new machinery values to skyrocket up here. Curious what values are doing in US$'s.
