We're even crazier. We run a 10 knife bar and sidedress all our 500 corn acres. Dad paid $400 for the old dmi bar from the coop. All we do is put new hoses on every few years and a couple of knives. We barely got all our NH3 put on and everything sprayed before getting 27 inches of rain in 30 days this past season. Corn still averaged 211 with very little tile under it.

I put together a side dress bar last spring. I seem to get some good response from side dressing my coc. I finished up the day of this picture at about 4pm. I remember because we had dinner plans wife some of my wifes friends. It started raining while we were doing chores the next morning and we had measurable rainfall on 17 of the next 21 days and did NO spraying or haying in that entire time period.
