I don't know if elevator can actually make you deliver if you settle with them before last notice on futures contract. Cbot doesn't make you deliver,can they?
Should winter wheat be forward contracted before it survives the winter anyway?
Contracting the CBOT price with elevator as part of a "delivery/sale" contract is different than just owning the CBOT contract...winter wheat is touchy as usually some of the best contracting opportunities is in Sept. before its planted.....After getting "delivered" on 2 CBOT soybean contracts which was suppose to have been liquidated but broker forgot the order I decided I have no business trading futures and should only cash contract....FWIW , other than full margin call for soybean price it cost about 15 cents bu. too clean up the mess |
