In the 80's a job in town probable would have help to make land payments on land that was bought in the 80's but I don't think on off farm income would have been able to help much on the land that was bought in the late 70's. It would be interesting to know what % of land that was bought between 1976 and 1980 was actually held onto by the farmers that bought it and how much of it went back. I can only think of one quarter that was kept by the farmer that bought it at the high but I can probable think of over 20 or 30 farms that went back. Maybe I only remember the ones that got talked about in town. I do know of a few that went back and the farmer that had given it back was able to buy it again at a lower price.
