I wouldn't say they all exit at the same time but 2008-2013 kept several guys around that were always marginally profitable and all of a sudden thought "I'll keep doing this for $1000/A returns!" That's probably gone now and they'll slowly slip out the back door. If I was 62-70 years old and didn't have anyone to take over, I'd be sprinting for the door.
Not saying that's going to happen, but I situation where it could.
