Subject: RE: Beans and China

I don't know, there's still a few beans just getting finished up around here but basis bids at the Mississippi River are already at what would typically be post-Thanksgiving levels.  The export market is signaling that it wants to buy more beans and get them shipped.  I talked to a merchandiser last week and the conversation was not so much "here is our bid", but more "what would it take to get beans out of your bins, we want them."

Granted, that's only one little anecdote, but the river markets in this area tend to be a pretty accurate reflection of the bigger picture in export demand.  Interesting that the river bids have recently gotten to even or better than the processors on corn, for both December and open nav deliveries.  Have to see if that means corn shipments ramp up too.
