North Dakota | I have been in the farming business for 23 years and never once included any government payment into income figures. Banker actually wanted it that way and so do I.
My payment for this year on 3 farms and 2,700 acres is $0. That's what you get when you raise wheat and other minor crops. I would be very leery of figuring out, planning and/or counting on next years payment. Don't fool yourself, they just about opened up the farm program at 3 A.M. in the morning to start carving away. They will do it again or raise sequester amount or whatever they can come up with because this country is broke and broken and we are in the minority. Won't be even a whimper heard in Washington to cut farm payments. To tell ya the truth, I wouldn't really give a dam if they did because I am sick of the whole lot of them and how can they cut my $0 payment anyway.
