I have a 1370 and always wondered what happens if you do stationary pto work with it in reverse. Can you tell me? Does your pto kick into gear with a bang? No matter how slow I move the lever, it goes into gear with a bang.

You burn it up as it (or something in the trans, can't remember which) doesn't lube when in reverse.

For the OP our left before my time, pretty sure the trans was the weak point. Heard stories of how it ran into a few shed walls due to the trans.
