Third year on Calmers-have on a 8r-40 series Deere-leaves a 24" or less post-everything above is shredded into 2" pc's, corn stalk goes into the middle of the chopping roll-on the old Deere roll the stalk would be up about 20% , you were always bulldozing the stalk. Poor mans chopping head-like it a lot. I think less or maybe no more stress on the old corn head-but did overhaul the 4 middle rows with the heavier gear in gearbox before I used it.
