| From the WASDE.. ( http://www.usda.gov/oce/commodity/wasde/latest.pdf )
WASDE says.. 7.6 myn acres of Sorghum harvested.. they raised the yield in October to 75..
Let's say they up the crop to 582 + 18 carry in = 600 myn bu supplies.
Here right now.. Sorghum is $.40 under corn.. which is switching Feed and ethanol plants over to grinding sorghum.. Kansas alone has the capacity to grind 500+ myn gallons per year.. ( http://www.neo.ne.gov/statshtml/121.htm )
Sorghum is not going to yield as much as corn.. Say.. they go to 67% sorghum at 5% less yield..
Corn = 504 /2.78 = 181 myn bushels.. x .67 = 121.5 myn bushels of Sorghum in KANSAS ALONE.
Coupled with feed usage of 100 myn bushels.. for the same reasons.. puts domestic usage at 221.5 myn bushels..
So 600 - 220 = 380 left.. and yet we're ahead of LAST YEAR's Exports..
( http://apps.fas.usda.gov/export-sales/sorghums.htm )
1,822.6 k mt's .. 71.7 myn bushels.. vs 1,211 k mt's 47.7 myn bushels this time last year 150% of Last year.. when we did 353 myn bushels total.. and PROJECTED to do 430 this year..
380 left - 430 projected = -50...?!?!
