Question: Who is more likely to continue buying crop insurance if the subsidies are removed, the BTO's or the STO's? Its likely to be the BTO. If everyone thinks that crop insurance subsidies are helping the BTO's at the expense of the STO's, then maybe the govt should put very restrictive caps on crop ins subsidies and all other farm program payments. Maybe BTO's should be restricted to the same level of subsidy as those that farm 500 acres. If they want to farm the whole county then let them do that on their own dime. Frankly I doubt we'd see much change.
