| Just read your post. Had same problem as you. Removed ear savers and installed Kaler Farms stalk guides and night and day difference. CIH has gathering chains out (or exposed) farther than previous models to be more aggressive but in doing so, when stalks are brittle, the gathering chain "ears" will hit the stalk sideways sometimes as it comes around before it gets to it's forward "home free" path and break the stalk off rather than bringing it "home". They know they have a problem and they know Kaler Farms has their solution......I can prove it. Problem is those stalk guides are PRICEY and a guy shouldn't have to pay that on top of a new corn head price. They do work though along with removing the TOO STIFF of material ear savers. | |
