Back when I raised hogs I always ordered full semi loads of feed,but was charged much more than a big producer 80 miles away.The co-op threw him a bunch of discounts to get his business then after they got it he kept threatening to go somewhere else unless they cut it even further.In the end the co-ops major customer was a break even deal and a lot of the small producers went to a private mill that gave us a better deal.

I know guys that are spread out for 100 miles get approached by fertilizer dealers in several counties, just one of the benefits of being a big buyer
