SW Ontario | i have a friend whose daughter has been working in the office of a major crop input supplier; mainly fertilizer and chemicals. She finds it confusing as there are as many as six different price levels for the same input and never knows how much to charge. Each quote must be run by her supervisor who determines the price level. Large quantity orders don't always get the lowest price. She said a loyal 70 year old farmer with a few hundred acres who just places orders and never asks for prices got the highest price level.
Is this normal in the crop input business? I find this very unethical; basically charging whatever one thinks they can get away with. I have worked in several farm service businesses myself but we always charged the same price to everyone.
I guess what it tells me is that when getting quotes for crop inputs, don't assume you are getting the lowest quote! | |
