The ethanol mandate would not cost the government or consumers anything, in fact they make money from it with more tax revenue and lower consumer cost to drive per mile. Ive heard numbers of 850,000 jobs here because of ethanol that if spent on straight gasoline would have gone to Arab sheiks and transnational oil companies who would put that money in Swiss bank accounts and pay little if any in tax.

So now us Canucks are Arab sheiks with Swiss bank acc'ts? Sometimes Iwonder if Americans really know where most of there crude comes from. Farmers are so independent on things and want gov't out of there lives but think we deserve a ethanol and bio diesel mandate. If numbers work ,great ,but why a mandate? I will argue that Mandate and ethanol expanding so fast and using such an unprecendented % of corn crop did cost some industries and livestock guys
