they will plant what makes the most profit for them. With the structure of the wheat market, why worry about scab discounts, or test weight discounts, or protein discounts, or any other discounts. Most of the time they just give the stuff away, why not plant corn. With their cheap land cost 125-155 bushel corn is a winner. its a winner now is what I'm saying. Its not going to be profitable very long and the risk is higher in that area. Low land costs or not. If it stays profitable your land costs won't be so cheap. |
