I know you guys think that the fringe would not plant corn and beans but it isn't going to happen. They technology coming on line will help them grow corn and beans. The only difference is their land cost will drop. Get hailed out for one year and your attitude will change concerning subsidized insurance.
it may help them grow it but they will be first to feel the ramifications of a large surplus. They need a steady market and a steady means of transportation. In a surplus the closest commodity will move first to destinations. The land costs and inputs will be a long time returning to a baseline. Insurance will not fix all problems so keep that in mind.
