While they cant tie an earthquake to a specif disposal well, per se, they can look at the growth in the total volume of saltwater disposal and look at the clustering of the the earthquakes and they are finding out a lot more about fault lines that are here, that they never knew about.
I remember that 4.8 quake, it shook for a long time, my mother who lives in NE Harper county had a some damage as a result, it occurred in November of 2014, if i remember correctly,
According to the KCC, the number of injection wells in Harper County climbed from 44 in 2009 to 71 in 2013. During that period, the volume of injected water in Harper County increased from 11 million barrels to more than 51 million barrels. In Sumner County, the injected water volume grew from over 5 million barrels in 2009 to over 10 million barrels in 2013.
Oil production in Harper County increased from 361,448 barrels in 2010 to 1.85 million barrels in the first nine months of 2014. In Sumner County, oil production increased from from 414,853 barrels in 2010 to 530,919 barrels in the first nine months of 2014. -
