east grand forks, mn
Hope to clear some things up for a few folks. My wife is a nursing supervisor at the local clinic and one of her duties is being in charge of the shot room.
The flu shot will only help vaccinate against a certain strain of influenza, that the CDC determines at the beginning of each flu season the strain that they feel which will pose the biggest health risk to the general public. Keep in mind there are hundreds of different strains of influenza and we cannot vaccinate against all of them only one per a season. Many people will get the flu even after getting the flu shot, because it was a different strain of influenza.

THE FLU SHOT WILL ONLY KEEP YOU VACCINATED FOR THE STRAIN THE CDC HAS PICKED FOR THE UP COMING FLU SEASON.

I am about 50/50 on when I get the flu shot because of timing of when I am in my busy season. Is it an excuse? No, it is not but that is how I rationalize it to myself LOL.

My wife and all of our kids do get it every year though.
