| We received anywhere from .75-1.5" enough to tempt me in firing up the drill and hitting some corn stalks with 120 lbs of wheat and hoping for the best. I agree with Daniel, I understand Kansas is a big Wheat producing state but in regards to world production we really don't hold much production power. I understand domestic stocks matter but the world stocks on wheat are just downright ugly. I am actually more concerned about Basis levels killing the wheat price more than the board price which is ugly enough. Right now we are getting bids to deliver wheat for .39 under the March. That's a whopping $4.50 cash. I just don't see how Kansas really matters that much until we chew some world production or get a foreign production issue. I have talked to two merchandisers who just swear this basis will be a problem through new crop 2016. We are all white wheat this year which eases the pain because we typically get $0.10-0.15 better than red wheat. | |
