In Canada, we don't have to worry too much about foreign competition as we are about the lowest price market in the world---we would like to have US prices but have a lot of trouble accessing that market because of trade barriers thrown up in spite of NAFTA.

I will believe free trade when I see it.

Now, I agree that dairy prices are low at the farm level in the US. But our experience in Texas has taught us milk in the supermarket is basically the same price as Canada even though our farm gate price is higher.

Farmers may believe in the glories of free enterprise---but you can't expect your employees to pay for your follies.
