This is true. Google also makes money by selling access to that deeper archived information/pictures to people who want it. A lot of Google's business models is to engineer "things" as if they are or will be free to access then sell a premium access or service that gets you more features to that product. Street and satellite (via Google Earth) gives you decent imagery and access for free, but pay for the premium product and you get more features and or a better experience. |
