Evidently, that's the case. The "NBC" site was very convincing. At least another site was set up to mimic a legit news site and also carried the article.
Google picked up these reports and put them at the top of the first search pages.
My apologies for getting everyone's hopes up.
I've got to admit, the fake articles were very well done. Two other people told me about the "announcement" this morning, so it's floating around pretty widely. |
