Planet money is a podcast and radio program that started during that fall to try to explain the credit/financial crisis. Those early shows maybe episode 1-30 are a real interesting snapshot of the real time confusion. They talk to a lot of people about paper or credit being frozen and the confusion of the market as a whole.
