| We were in a different position that most of you guys in the corn belt. Towards the end of the summer of 83 we got hit with the tail end of a hurricane that dropped anywhere from 2 - 6" if rain in less than a half hour. All the crops were lost and most of the crops were uninsurable. So basically every farm was saddled with thousands of dollars per acre of growing costs for that year. What crops you did have were low priced. It was a trifecta of disaster here and really changed the scenery. | |
