I think there are a lot of differences but yet to me it seems to be kind of following the same pattern. The first couple of bad years in the 80's hurt a few people but the majority of guys were OK. It took about 4 or 5  bad years before the majority of guys were hurting. I started farming in 1982 and by the fall of 1983 I had a couple of decent years and I thought the bad times were over and I was ready to expand. I found out later that expanding was not the thing to do. I think it was more that debt that was taken on in the early 80's that hurt guys more than the debt they took on in the 70's.
