Wisconsin | I took over the family farm in 1981, I had two land contracts on the land that i had bought and the land contract holders give me a break on the interest as they didn't want the land back. Being a young farmer and the interest rate being so high if was extremely difficult to come up with capital to make improvements on the farm that would help your bottom line. It was always make due. Being a livestock farmer we probably did a little better than a grain farmer. I went to some auctions figuring there would be machinery sold at give away prices, it never happened as there still were some with some money there. | |
