If there were no farm programs, the large farms and corporations would have full control within a decade.
For instance, the 2012 drought in Nebraska would have put the hurt on even the good operators with good balance sheets.
Do you realize that nearly every country in the world have ag programs. For example, china artificially supports there corn price to $9.00 to encourage production.
It would be more difficult for young producers to start, if not impossible.
This whole thread shows the short sightedness and stupidity of the general population, and unfortunately this time includes farmers, one of the few groups I still had hope in!
I do support getting rid of arc and plc and any direct payment. I'm on the fence about CRP. I see some good, but it also sucks having to compete with the government on cash rent.
The environmental lobby just has too much power these days.
