There were most definitely payments to beef producers after the drought of 2012.  I know people who collected up to $30,000 on the pasture deal.  I've also taken 40 cent LDPs on corn that went in a silo and got fed to cattle.  And there's no way the incredibly fast integration of the pork industry would have happened the way it did if the big players couldn't buy corn under the cost of production because guberment was stepping in and making up the difference.
