Subject: RE: For those who survived the 80's?

southwest illinois
During those times around my area, fuel was a minor cost, guys raised more continuous soybeans, those who planted the most corn fed it to livestock

I'm sure many people didn't fertilize the soybeans and used bin run seed, sprayed a preemerge or incorporated treflan and cultivated

generally speaking after a good runup in the 70's and prior to that during world war11 a lot of the surviving farmers were making more on bank CD's than on their farm

IMO recent good times don't even come close to the good times of the 70's and WW1 and WW2........So if you haven't saved any money recently your future looks gloomy at best (If we hit hard times)

Like another poster has said, if you cannot make money now on grain crops, you just as well call the auctioneer while you can extract good value out of your land and machinery
