| I don't have any advice for the OP but I can appreciate the situation. In my area there's quite a list of things you need to have or be able to do to be considered to rent any sort of land.
1. You or your family must farm a minimum of 5,000 acres
2. You must be a full time farmer, I've been told by many landowners they don't want to deal with "weekend warriors" 3. You must have the equipment and man power to plant and harvest one quarter per day.
Buying land has become a game for guys with 10,000 plus acres and they're are usually just bidding for their investor. And the big trend lately is one bid auctions of $10,000 plus an acre.
I'm not saying he should be given anything but you guys have to remember just the opportunity to get started is huge.
Not very many of us would be where we are today if someone out there wasn't willing to rent the first piece of land.
