I think the 30 year national yield is around 125 so I could say that APH is more like 125. I think we need to go by trend line and not a 10 or 20 or 30 year national average. I don't know of anyone that is satisfied planting the same corn that they were planting 10 years ago. The national yield is going up and by not admitting it will only hurt your marketing plan.


I was just talking about that with our seed dealer today. I would do anything to get the varieties back we planted 10 years ago when we had higher yields with less nitrogen and way less seed population. I talked to some local farmers and they have had the same thing happen to them. Seed companies are not moving forward, just changing around. We continually have to look for new varieties since the old winners seem to fall on their face after 3-4 years of being out. That's what happens when seed companies start storing stock seed for a year of 2 at a time.
