Death comes to us all. Life's but a walking shadow
What do you suppose it costs to move a train car from Iowa to Ohio?
According to the latest Grain Transportation report it cost 56 cents per bushel to move corn from Demoines to Davenport IA (163mi). From Toledo to Raleigh NC. it costs $1.40 per bushel (621mi.). The distance from Demoines to the Indiana- Ohio line is just about 500 mi. This means the cost to move corn from Demoines to Indiana is probably $1-$1.25 per bushel. This makes corn by rail about $1 per bushel more than Iowa's price. If Iowa's basis is -25 then Ohio's + 25 is still pretty cheap.
