You mentioned the DJ. I like the Emini (mini S&P contract).
FWIW, and I am prolly odd in this respect, but I do not spec trade the grains. I feel like I am too "emotionally involved" with the grains as a farmer to trade them as a speculator. I have had good luck trading the S&P, cattle, hogs, crude, copper, silver.
My feet are now wet!
