Subject: RE: 2 more questions

How many Reals does it take to buy a bag of soybeans from Monsanto? Something makes me think Mother Monsanto and her competitors aren't eating the differance in the $/Real so the Brazilian farmer can 'cash in' as you say. No doubt a changing currency effects the farmers, but ask Americans how long it is helpful: remember when we had a cheap $? How long did it take for input prices to reflect it? About .1 if my memory serves.

P.S. I wouldn't dispute the acreage increases from the Brazilian farmer. I agree he does respond to things just like us, people is people, as they say. But I do disagree with Sat's assertion that American farmers can no longer compete with the world. In a global market, the market adjusts globally. Zimbabwe makes about a million dollars per bushel, doesn't mean they are getting any richer any faster than the rest of us.
